Materializing a start-up’s complex vision into a user-friendly mobile app.

Role
This project was designed and launched during my time at Studio NAND. My main contribution lied in refining and simplifying complex ideas. As a non-crypto expert myself, I intentionally leveraged my own questions and moments of friction as signals for potential user pain points. Moreover, I conducted a competitive analysis of existing crypto wallet apps to identify common patterns and best practices, and translated all insights into our design. I developed a structured way to document and deliver the many interconnected user flows, ensuring clarity and alignment across design, product, and technical stakeholders.
Challenge
The challenge began with deeply understanding the underlying technical flows in order to translate them into clear, user-friendly experiences. Non-custodial crypto wallets present significant UX challenges, particularly around complex password setup and recovery mechanisms, as well as the uncertainty and cognitive load faced by users navigating these flows for the first time.

Process
Building on the expert knowledge of the client, and conducting an in-depth competitor analysis, our small team (me as one out of two product designers) mapped and developed the complex vision through rapid prototyping cycles. This iterative approach allowed us to continuously refine and validate the concept, and to launch the MVP within 6 months.
Solutions
As the user advocate, I focused on reducing complexity by guiding users through these intricate processes with clarity and intention. In this project, I identified critical moments of uncertainty and concentrated on revealing the right information at the right time. By anticipating user needs and expectations, I designed technically complex cryptocurrency flows as intuitive, approachable experiences - accessible even to users with no prior exposure to crypto transactions:
Designed "step-by-step" user flows for effortless wallet setup, password recovery, and transactions (see images below)
Added a contextual tooltip “buddy” that guides users through critical moments and reduces anxiety across key workflows (see images below)
